This month, Hawaii (and especially the island of Oahu) is excited to host the LOTTE Championship Presented by Hershey for the sixth year running. It will be held at the Ko Olina Golf Club from Wednesday, April 12, to Saturday, April 15.

In 2016, Australian Minjee Lee won the tournament with a final score of -16, beating Korean In Gee Chun and American Katie Burnett by just a single stroke. The 2017 tournament promises to be equally exciting, and will showcase the beauty of Hawaiian golf to fans who follow the sport.

Even if you don’t play golf at a professional level, it’s easy to experience great island golfing for yourself by booking a round through Aloha Golf Tours today.

The Best Clubs for Learning Golf

A beginner just learning the game of golf, whether it’s yourself, your child, or someone else, should have specific equipment meant to help them get the hang of the game. As a general rule, equipment for beginners is designed to help increase your control of the ball, and as you become more practiced, you can move on to equipment that requires more precision, helping you to fine tune your game.

Here are some general guidelines for equipment for beginners:
  • Choose a mallet putter over a blade putter to help improve the accuracy of your short game.
  • Choose clubs with larger heads, which will have a bigger “sweet-spot,” reducing your chances of a hook or slice.
  • Consider and offset head on your clubs, which will help you improve your grip and swing.
  • Graphite shafts will help you gain distance, even with a slower, more deliberate swing.

Of course, the best thing to improve your game will be to get on the course and practice. If you’re looking for great courses in Hawaii, contact Aloha Golf Tours today.

Why we Play Golf

Playing Golf in Hawaii is one of the most relaxing and activities on Earth. You often read about the physical health benefits of playing golf such as burning calories and building endurance. What most people neglect is how much it lends itself to the human experience.
For example, the golf setting brings us closer to nature. We are usually outside where we can feel the winds blowing hear the birds of Waikiki chirping above the golf course. It’s a rejuvenating experience that can put us in a peaceful state.
When you play golf in Hawaii, you are likely socializing with a partner you just met on the course. Even though you are competing against each other, golf is such a quietly paced game that the competitive aspect does not get in the way of the bonding you are doing with other players.
These two factors come together to promote a longer, healthier life which gives you more to experience. For this human experience, book at www.golftoursoahu.com for your next vacation.

Tips for a Hole in One Business Deal

Did our tips help you out at your last business golf game? Let’s dive into the next round of helpful advice for standing out at your company golf meetings.

4. Plan for the Day – Golf meetings are not just about the game. Business golfers usually stay for a post-round of drinks or dinner. Keep this in mind so you don’t double book yourself.

5. All about Body Language – Be smart and be aware of your partner’s personality. If your partner is serious, let them be. Don’t try to crack jokes or be silly, it may come across unprofessional to them. Although you are in an informal setting, the focus is still business.

6. Continue the Conversation – Don’t be discouraged if you don’t close a deal by the end of the day. The priority is making sure your client had a good experience and that might not happen if they feel pressured. An unfinished conversation is just a good reason to follow up after the game with an email or a thank you letter.

We hope this makes a difference in your future business endeavors.

Making a Good Impression through your Golf Game

Golf is a common sport among business professionals. A lot of businessmen use the golf course to make business deals, get to know their clients and employees, or conduct meetings. If you’re wondering how to make an impression on the green here are a few tips to improve your business game.
  1. Pick the right partner – You are not trying to get the best score so be sure to partner up with people of influence. This will give you the opportunity to make conversation with the right people.
  2. Play fair – If you are an undercover golf pro, tone down your game a little. If you show off it might give off the wrong impression. If golf isn’t your strongest suit, try your best and maintain a positive attitude. Play at your ability and play by the rules.
  3. Ease into it – Use the first part of the game to get to know your client on a personal level. Jumping right into business might catch them off guard. Act natural and let the conversation lead into business around the 5th hole. In the same sense don’t let the business talk carry on too long. Lighten up the conversation towards the end of your game.

Hopefully these tips help improve your business game, follow up with our blog next month for more business golf tips. In the meantime book your next business meeting with Golf Tours of Oahu on one of our stunning courses.
